Liverpool star has demanded talks with Arne Slot ‘a few times’ as summer issue awaits

One star has already held talks with ahead of what could be a crucial summer transfer window for the Reds. The Merseyside outfit kept business to a minimum last summer, with Federico Chiesa the only addition to Slot’s side during his first window in charge.

It doesn’t appear to have impacted too much, considering they’re on the brink of being crowned Premier League champions and are already through to the League Cup final. What’s more, the six-time winners are also among the favourites to lift the Champions League this season.

Irrespective of how many trophies finishes up with this term, it promises to be a hectic summer for Slot, given that several players are being linked with Anfield exits already. , and still haven’t penned contract renewals, with the latter having been heavily linked to Real Madrid.

But away from the big-name stars in Slot’s side, there could still be plenty of squad turnover in the off-season. One of the players being spoken about in that category is Wataru Endo, who arrived at during ’s final season in charge.

Appearances under new boss Slot have been hard to come by though, with the Japanese international having registered just 128 minutes in the Premier League this season. It was something Endo was quizzed on ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain, with the midfielder remaining coy about his response.

He explained: “It’s a little bit tough for me because I don’t play that much, but the thing I can do is help the team. Yes I have conversations with the manager, a few times in the season.

“He always told me that my attitude and what I’ve done with the team is always unbelievable. I feel like he trusts me a lot at the moment, and that’s what I always try to do [work hard]. I’m happy to be here. As I’ve said, I will keep working hard in training and on the pitch as well.”

Endo joined for £16.2million in the summer of 2023 from Bundesliga side Stuttgart. He featured 44 times for during his maiden campaign in England and helped them lift the League Cup final, starting in the final at Wembley against . Endo is under contract at until the summer of 2027.
