Salmon is the for an easy yet tasty dinner, and there is a simple way to make it even more delicious. Suzy Karadsheh of has shared that the secret to cooking salmon is simply wrapping it in parchment paper.
She said, “Just like cooking salmon En Papillote (in parchment), baking salmon wrapped in foil traps the steam and ensures flaky, never-never-dry fish infused with flavour all the way through. And you don’t have to worry about flipping it or removing the skin. Once it’s done, the flesh lifts right off!”

Salmon will come out more flavourful and tender when cooked this way (Image: Getty)
Parchment paper or cling foil will seal the dish to trap moisture. As the salmon cooks, it will steam in its own juices and any seasonings you add to make the fish much more flavourful.
Since the salmon is being steamed, it will also cook evenly, slowly, and gently, which will help it become more tender and reduce the chance of the dish becoming overcooked.
This is a simple cooking method that will keep the salmon moist while cooking. There is no need to add any butter, so the dish will be much healthier while still being rich and tasty.

Instructions
To begin, place a rack in the middle of your oven and preheat it to 190C. Line a baking sheet with cling foil, making sure it is big enough to cover the salmon.
To make the lemon garlic sauce, zest one of the fresh lemons, place it in a small bowl, and then add the lemon juice. Add the garlic, oregano, paprika, black pepper, and oil, then mix everything together to combine.
Next, prepare the salmon. Pat the salmon dry and season both sides with salt. Place it in the baking tray lined with cling foil, skin side down, and then pour the lemon garlic sauce on top.
Bend the cling foil so the sauce does not spill out of the baking tray, and use a spoon to spread the sauce evenly across the surface of the salmon.
If you have remaining lemons, cut them into rounds and place them on the salmon.

Wrap the salmon by folding the loose ends of the foil over the dish. Make sure it is not tightly wrapped, and there is some space between the foil and the top of the salmon.
Crimp the foil closed at the top and sides to seal the salmon so the steam will be trapped inside.
Place the salmon in the oven and cook for 15 to 20 minutes until it is almost cooked. When the time is up, carefully remove from the oven and open the foil.
Then, turn the broiler on in the oven to high and cook the dish until the top is lightly browned, which should take roughly three minutes. Pay attention at this stage, as you can easily burn the dish if you are not careful.
Once the salmon is ready, sprinkle it with parsley, and your mouthwatering baked fish will be ready to serve.
