Mysteries are solved as more questions arise in the “Paradise” Season 1 finale.
The first season of the captivating and plot-twist-filled Hulu drama starring Sterling K. Brown came to an end on March 4, answering one of the biggest questions: Who killed President Cal Bradford (James Marsden).
However, viewers were still left wondering what happened to Collins’ wife, Teri (Enuka Okuma), and if she’s still alive.
What happened to Xavier’s wife?
From the beginning of the season, it is assumed that Agent Collins’ wife died.
Episode 7 revealed that Teri was not able to make it to the underground city Paradise. She was stuck in Atlanta and couldn’t get to the location that would fly her over to Colorado to be with Collins and their two children.
As the couple shared an emotional and heartbreaking goodbye phone call, viewers saw a map where the nuclear missile was projected to hit Atlanta.

Is Agent Xavier Collins’ wife still alive?
It’s not entirely clear if Agent Collins’ wife is still alive. It appears she survived following the catastrophic events.
Viewers learn this after Samantha “Sinatra” Redmond (Julianne Nicholson) shows Collins that his wife is still alive by playing a distress call that appears to be Teri asking for help. In the audio, she says she is looking for her husband and children.
“I think that’s the first time that he’s allowed himself to even think that his wife could be alive,” Brown previously told TODAY.com. “When she tells him at the end of (Episode 6), ‘I knew she’s alive. I know where she is, and I can help you get to her.’”
While Collins doesn’t know if he can trust Sinatra, he now has a newfound sense of hope — and so do viewers.
At the end of the seventh episode, President Bradford decided that instead of initiating a nuclear war, he would activate a linked array of electromagnetic pulses that could disarm the nuclear missiles and “fry every electronic circuit on Earth.”
“It would give people a chance,” the president told Sinatra in Episode 7.
It’s then assumed that the president’s actions worked and the missile missed Atlanta. However, Sinatra says she will keep the information on Terri’s whereabouts secret until Collins finds out who killed the president. She also has his daughter held hostage.
During the finale, Collins decode’s the president’s message on one of his cigarettes and finds a book with information about how to get out of underground city. The final scene shows Collin aboard a plane and ready to take off.
“I’m coming, baby,” Collins says and the episode ends.
What will happen in Season 2 of ‘Paradise’?
“Paradise” has already been renewed for a second season and Brown previously told TODAY that future episodes could focus on what life is like above ground and Collins looking for his wife.
