Horror footage shows the moment a man tried to open the door on a while flying at 35,000ft in the air.

Afterwards, he is seen lying on the floor with his hands tied behind his back after reportedly being restrained by cabin crew.

The video is believed to be from a Plus Ultra flight 701 from to Caracas in Venezuela on February 28.

The Airbus A330 was around halfway through its journey and flying high over the Atlantic Ocean when the man became “restless.”

“A passenger began to feel restless, annoying the person in the next seat with shouts and slapping him while he was asleep,” a Plus Ultra spokesperson said.

“The crew acted quickly, calming the situation between the two and relocating the passenger to another seat where he could not disturb anyone.”

They added: “Moments later, this individual suddenly went to one of the doors of the plane trying to manipulate it.

“Immediately, our cabin crew subdued the passenger and, following the action protocol, secured him in the back of the plane until he reached the destination.

“At all times he was accompanied by two people from the crew, lying on the ground and attended to avoid any possible altercation.”

In spite of the incident, the flight actually ended up landing ahead of schedule.

It is not known exactly what prompted the passenger to attempt to open the door.

One of the cabin crew reportedly suffered a partial fracture of the fibula, and the man who caused the trouble is believed to have been detained upon landing.

There have been other reported incidents of passengers opening or trying to open an emergency exit during a flight.

A person on an Asiana Airlines Airbus A321, for example, managed to open the door as the aircraft was coming in to land in South Korea in 2023.
