This Morning viewers were left scratching their heads and asking “is there a point” as they vented their exasperation over a Pancake Day segment that aired on Tuesday (March 4).
In the episode, presenters Cat Deeley and welcomed baker Juliet Sear to whip up what appeared to be an ordinary stack of pancakes. Little did the audience know that one was actually a cleverly disguised pancake illusion cake.
As Ben admired the deceptiveness of the set-up, he couldn’t help but express, “They are absolutely stunning,” while his co-host Cat was equally astounded, saying: “We are stood so close. I mean, Juliet, I can’t even tell you what an amazing job you’ve done.”
Juliet then revealed the magic by slicing into the sponge, which boasted lemon and blueberry flavors, leaving the duo mesmerized by her craft.

“You’ve done that beautifully round the sides to make it look like pancakes it’s just brilliant,” Ben enthused. Cat chimed in with admiration as well, asking: “It’s incredible. Will you show us how to make it?” reports .
With confidence, Juliet responded, “I’ll show how to do it, yeah, let’s go to the kitchen,” leading the way for the culinary demonstration.
Despite the hosts’ excitement, some This Morning fans found the idea of featuring a cake rather than traditional pancakes confusing on Shrove Tuesday.
Taking to social media, disgruntled fans voiced their disapproval, with a particularly frustrated viewer remarking: “Should be pancakes… not cake ffs it’s shrove Tuesday.”
Another befuddled fan remarked, “Feels like today is the only day of the year where you could’ve done a couple of different pancake recipes and it actually would’ve been helpful,” while another commented, “Just make a cake or pancakes don’t see the point to this!”

Concurring with the prevailing mood, another viewer exclaimed, “Is simply making normal pancakes not entertaining enough for morning tv anymore? Why are we watching someone making a cake on pancake day?”
Juliet, discussing the charm of illusion cakes, shared her view: “It’s such a fun thing to do, I think, especially if you get the kids involved.”
Cat then welcomed Joanne from the Guinness Book of Records to witness Ben’s ambitious effort to win back his record for the highest number of pancake flips in 60 seconds.
Towards the conclusion of the broadcast, relief washed over viewers as Juliet returned to her culinary post to whip up her ideal pancake mix, with one relieved individual posting, “Yay actual pancakes!”
