told her Hollywood friend Mindy Kaling to start calling her “Sussex” during an episode of her new show. In the second installment of Meghan’s eight-part new series, ‘With Love, Meghan’, the Duchess of Sussex invited the Office star to the rented £5 million mansion where the show was filmed.
The pair were having a light-hearted conversation about their childhoods when Meghan stopped Mindy in her tracks. The Office actress replied: “People wouldn’t believe that ate at Jack in the Box.” Meghan hit back: “It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying . You know I’m Sussex now.”

This comes after the Duchess revealed how the Sussex title holds deeper significance than she first imagined, opening up in a candid interview ahead of the release of the new series.
She told Magazine: “It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognized how meaningful that would be to me until we had children.
“I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me.” Five years have passed since she and Harry made the decision to quit life as senior working royals and eventually settle in Montecito, California.
The Sussex title was bestowed upon her and by Queen Elizabeth II on their wedding day on May 19, 2018. The late Queen gifted her grandson the Duke of Sussex title to mark his nuptials, making his official title His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex. As his new wife, Meghan took on the equivalent title of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.

Some critics have claimed that Meghan is wrongly using the Sussex title as her last name.
Accusing her of arrogance, one X user wrote:”Excuse me but #MeghanMarkle wants you to know that her last name is Sussex. Not so fast, Markle. Not in the US. We don’t have titles and “of Sussex” is a title.
“Had you stayed in the UK? Sure. You just decided a year or so ago to use Sussex for your mystery kids. The pretentious arrogance is WILD. Titles mean nothing here. Deal with it.”
Another replied: “Your last name is Windsor- Mountbatten, Sussex is your title! A prestigious name for this moron who appreciates nothing.”
A third commented: “She doesn’t even know her name. It’s not Sussex; that is not what she has on her children’s birth certificates.
