GMB’s Susanna Reid issues baby news live on air and congratulates co-star

Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid was quick to extend her warm wishes to co-star Alex Beresford on Tuesday’s programme. Following the latest news update with Ed Balls, they turned to weather presenter Alex Beresford.

Susanna said: “Congratulations Alex and with love…” Alex interrupted to ask about the current time. Susanna informed him it was 6:18am.

Alex revealed: “So, Camille was born three weeks ago today at 6:13, so this time three weeks ago, I was very much in the labour suite, having an absolutely amazing time.”

As the studio displayed an image of Alex cradling his newborn, he lauded her as “incredible” and elaborated on the joy she has brought him, saying: “It’s been so good! So, so good and I feel like I’ve got a new lease on energy.”

He then reflected on his initial apprehensions, jokingly agreeing with Susanna’s playful suggestion that he felt the need for a new venture. However, Ed quipped: “Can I say Alex, it’s not normal for parents to have a new lease of energy. It’s normal for them to be exhausted. Does your partner have a new lease of energy?”

He expressed admiration for her dedication to breastfeeding and resilience through cluster feeding, concluding that watching her navigate motherhood has been a pleasure.

Ed Balls opened up about his parenting duties, revealing that his wife Yvette Cooper put him on nappy duty for the first month. Alex Jones agreed with the approach.

Ed shared: “Oh I do the lot because that’s the one thing that I can do because she’s breastfeeding all the time and she (Camille) wants to be on mummy. The one thing I can do is change nappies, so I’ve been changing every single nappy.”

Susanna noted that the newborn must be keeping him busy, prompting Ed to reflect on the incredible past three weeks. He expressed his gratitude, saying: “I just want to actually thank The Queen Charlotte at Chelsea hospital.”

He praised the NHS staff saying: “They were absolutely amazing, our midwife was incredible and big respect for the NHS for everything that they do because I just saw so many people constantly going the extra mile. So grateful.”

Ed also mentioned Camille is Alex’s second child, as he has a 14-year-old son named Cruz with his ex-partner, Natalia Natkaniec.
