At last, the Oscars are here, ending a somewhat unpredictable 2025 awards season. The ceremony is set to air at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and Hulu Live TV. Comedian Conan O’Brien is hosting for the first time.
“Emilia Pérez,” the Spanish-language film starring Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña and Selena Gomez, leads with 13 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. If Gascón wins, she would become the first trans woman to win in the Best Actress category. However, her awards season campaign has been riddled with controversy after several past tweets of Gascón’s resurfaced, which made controversial statements about George Floyd, Muslims and diversity at the Oscars.
Gascón did not attend the SAG Awards but is expected to attend the Oscars.
“The Brutalist” and “Wicked” received 10 nominations; “Conclave” and “A Complete Unknown” each nabbed eight noms.
Several actors are slated to present awards, including Amy Poehler, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey Jr. and others.
Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Lisa of Blackpink, Queen Latifah and Raye are all set to perform.

John ‘Divine G’ Whitfield And Clarence Maclin Of ‘Sing Sing’ Dazzle On The Red Carpet
“Sing Sing” was a favorite for several staffers at HuffPost in 2024. We included it on our best films of 2024 list, interviewed the film’s stars Colman Domingo and Clarence Maclin. Domingo is nominated Sunday for Best Actor for portraying John “Divine G” Whitfield, who was incarcerated at Sing Sing Correctional Facility after being wrongfully convicted of a crime. In the film, Whitfield leads the Rehabilitation For The Arts program, where incarcerated men put on plays and find a sense of joy even while being behind bars.
Maclin, along with John “Divine G” Whitfield, are both nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay. In the tweet below, they’re walking the red carpet — and the smiles on their faces are EVERYTHING.
I had hoped Maclin would get more awards season love for his performance, and it honestly is a shame he isn’t’ double-nominated tonight as an actor and writer.
