Call the Midwife fans were left in tears as the latest episode of the period drama, set in 1970s East London, delivered a dramatic twist.
The episode on Sunday evening (March 2) saw the return of Nancy Corrigan after a long absence, who was preparing to marry salesman Roger.
However, an unexpected revelation turned their big day upside down. During a final fitting for her wedding dress, Violet discovered that Nancy was seven months pregnant. Nancy confessed she had kept the news to herself, but events took a sudden turn when her baby decided to make an early appearance.
Nancy’s contractions began, leading Nurse Crane to summon an ambulance, but they didn’t reach the hospital in time. In the back of the ambulance, Roger supported his bride-to-be as she gave birth to a baby girl, whom they named Melinda.
Despite the premature arrival of baby Melinda, Nancy and Roger’s wedding proceeded as planned. Even the rain couldn’t dampen the joyous occasion as friends and family gathered to celebrate the newlyweds, reports .
