Dan Edgar has become the eighth contestant to be booted off Dancing on Ice following another intense skate-off – but fans were unimpressed.
The hit ITV show hosted by Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern returned to screens on Sunday night (March 2) for another nail-biting week, as the remaining celebrities took to the ice to compete for their spot in next week’s show.
As the dreaded skate-off made its comeback once again, Anton Ferdinand and Annette Dytrt skated off against Dan Edgar and Vanessa James after they were forced to battle it out after getting the lowest combined votes and scores.
Judges Oti Mabuse, Ashley Banjo, Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill were unanimous in wanting to save Anton Ferdinand.
Viewers watching from home appeared disappointed by the results and headed over to social media site X to share their reaction. One fan wrote: “No way should Anton have been put through, he messed up at the end of his routine.
“Had anyone else done that, they would have gone home. Don’t understand why the judges love him so much?

Another said: “Anton hasn’t got a hope in hells chance of winning the final against the other two celebrities.”
A third chimed: “Not sure either couple in the dance-off are good enough to be in the final. Both were unsteady on the ice and the routines were poor.”
Another viewer appeared to take Dan’s side and wrote: “The shouts of fix make me laugh! Popularity goes a long way. Mollie is relatively new to TV, TOWIE has huge following. I don’t usually vote but I did tonight because I didn’t want to see Anton in the skate off after his skate. Don’t vote, don’t moan!”
One fan said: “No way was Anton better than Dan there.”
The Dancing On Ice final will see Michaela Strachan, Anton Ferdinand and Sam Aston battle it out for the trophy.
During Sunday’s show, viewers were shocked as Christopher Dean let slip a swear word live on air, just moments into the show.

However, it was an unexpected incident following star Sam’s performance that caught the audience off guard when judge Chris seemed to utter the “F bomb”.
Sam and his professional partner Molly skated to the Queen hit I Want to Break Free, earning high praise from the judges with Ashley, Oti, and Chris awarding them perfect tens, while Jayne scored slightly lower at 9.5. The surprise came when Chris was queried about his score for the actor’s solo challenge.
Caught off guard and having forgotten to record his score, Chris exclaimed in a moment of confusion: “Oh f***ing heck, I forgot to put that in.”
He later explained, “I got so excited with your performance that I forgot to give you a mark.”
The show apologised for his slip-up.
