ITVX is gearing up to stream the much-anticipated Belgravia: The Next Chapter, set in 1871 and crafted by the acclaimed writer of Downton Abbey, Julian Fellowes. This series delves into the romantic tale of Frederick Trenchard and Clara Dunn, with Frederick hailing from nobility as the third Lord Glanville and Clara being a fresh face in London’s high society.
The plot synopsis reveals: “Unaware that his birth was the product of an affair between his mother Susan and the scoundrel John Bellasis, a troubled childhood has left Frederick deeply insecure and challenged his courtship of – and marriage to – Clara.”
Helen Edmundson, the writer and creator, expressed her desire to shift the focus to a younger ensemble, stating: “Following Belgravia, this was the element that I felt was an interesting loose thread that I wanted to pick up on – the idea of leaving the audience with a child that’s been born and the big secret around his parentage.”
She added, “I wanted us to join Frederick when he was at a stage in his life where he is just beginning to live independently. I also felt that the original series tended to concentrate more on the older characters, and that it might be exciting for us to explore a world with a completely fresh generation who are just starting out in life.”
