Talk TV shake-up as presenter pulls out of show last minute as host forced to step in

had a presenter shake-up as one of the main stars fell ill at the last minute. Host James Max, who usually hosts The Talk, took to social media to share an update with viewers.

Sitting in the studio, he wrote: “Wishing @drdavidbull a speedy recovery. He’s ill so I’ll be in the Weekend Breakfast hot seat this Saturday and Sunday. Do join me live from 6am on Saturday morning on @TalkTV.”

Bull is yet to post on social media about his sudden absence. Viewers quickly rushed to comment on the news, as one said: “Yayy! Well not Yayy for David, but every cloud eh! Question for you James, how will our PM deal with the visit of Zelenskyy on Sunday? A strain on the ‘special relationship’ already perhaps?”

Another added: “Sorry to hear you are poorly David but welcome home Mr Max.” A third chimed in: “Looking forward to seeing you again on Talk, James. Wishing Dr David the best and hope he feels better soon.”

A fourth agreed: “Sorry to hear Dr David is ill wishing him a speedy recovery. It will be good to hear you on Talk early over weekend You always give us a great program see you at 6am.”

A fifth ranted: “Miss Dr David and wish him well and James Max was a good entertaining listen. May I suggest more James Max and a lot less Mr Cardwell who is the cause of me switching to GB News when he is on.”

David Bull has been a presenter on TalkTV since 2022. He was Deputy Leader of from 2021 to 2024, when he was then replaced by .

He rose to fame on Newsround as a health reporter in 1996 after training as a doctor, first appearing on Sky TV in 1995 as an on-screen doctor.

Bull also presented other kids shows, before going on to join ‘s Watchdog for its Healthcheck spin-off. He also made appearances on Most Haunted Live and Hospital Live.

As he appeared on TV during the 2024 Election, fans quickly realised where they had seen him before. They rushed to social media to comment on his previous career. One said: “Does anyone remember when Dr David Bull was on Newsround?” Another said: “Remember when David Bull just used to be a Dr on CBBC and Newsround.”
