Zelensky lands in London hours after huge Donald Trump bust-up

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has flown to London to meet with European leaders, after his public row with President Trump and JD Vance in the Oval Office yesterday.

His plane landed at 11:07 on March 1, ahead of a summit hosted by Prime Minister Sir .

Following Zelensky’s clash with Trump and Vance, during which the US President accused him of “gambling with World War Three”, Sir Keir spoke with both leaders, according to a No 10 spokesman.

The prime minister confirmed the UK’s “unwavering support for “, in the wake of the row in Washington.

A No 10 spokesperson said: “The prime minister has tonight spoken to both President Trump and President Zelensky.

“He retains unwavering support for , and is doing all he can to find a path forward to a lasting peace based on sovereignty and security for .”

Outgoing German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has been invited to London for the conference, as has European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, the European Council President António Costa, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and Italy’s Giorgia Meloni.

After the spat in the Oval Office, Trump said his meeting with Zelensky “didn’t work out exactly great” and that the Ukrainian President “overplayed his hand”.

Sarcastically branding Zelensky a “big shot”, the US Presodent added: “We’re looking for peace. We’re not looking for somebody that’s going to sign up a strong power and then not make peace because they feel emboldened.

“I’m looking for peace, we’re not looking to go into a ten-year war”, he said before flying to Florida.
