He opts to lather the jelly-like cream in a pomegranate glaze, which may not be familiar to the cooks of Piedmonte where the dish first emerged, but looks delicious.

opts for the classic combo of cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla bean, and later whisking in gelatin to help give the dish its distinctive wobbly consistency.

It’s later in the process that the chef takes a left turn, preparing a glaze with pomegranate juice and sugar over medium heat and reducing it to a syrup.

This is then left to cool, before being poured over the panna cotta. He then recommends garnishing it with fresh pomegranate arils and chocolate curls.

Meanwhile, Gordon’s long-time rival Jamie Oliver recently shared his own inventive addition to an Italian staple.
