A commuter just 30 minutes from London that is often dubbed the ‘worst place to live’ has some of the most underrated areas in the whole of the UK.

Built as a new town in 1967 in Buckinghamshire  (MK) has been dubbed in the past as a ‘dismal London commuter belt town’ and hit the headlines last year as in a survey by .

Often the butt of a joke, MK’s most frequently slammed as being a concrete jungle with no history, culture or soul.

However, the town has earned some sympathy from website Independent Cottages, who put together a list of places that are overlooked depending on how many guidebooks have been written about it.

It found that Milton Keynes – considering Bletchley Park and stately home and deer park Woburn Abbey, which has its own safari park area nearby – is the most underrated spot in the UK.

Bletchley Park was once the top-secret home of the World War Two Codebreakers. The sleepy area was a hub of activity during the war to intercept enemy communications and in particular to break the German Command’s ‘Enigma’ codes was one of the best kept secrets of the war.

Today, Bletchley Park is a vibrant heritage attraction that is open daily to visitors.

The town is a great option for those who want a little more space for their money, with house prices on average £200,000 cheaper than London boroughs.
