Lemon juice contains citric acid, a natural solution which will react to limescale and soap scum to dissolve it without having to scrub it for ages.

It is mildly antibacterial, so it will also help make shower glass more hygienic, and it is unlikely to leave streaks as it evaporates quickly.

This is a simple and cheap way to get your shower clean again, and all you need is one lemon.

How to clean shower glass with a lemon

All you need to do is cut a lemon in half and then dip one piece into a bowl filled with baking soda.

Baking soda is abrasive, which will help remove limescale and soap without damaging the glass.

It is also alkaline, which means it will react to the acidic lemon juice to create a fizzy paste, which will aid in loosening any grime stuck to the shower screen.

When you have your baking soda-dipped lemon then simply use it on the glass by gently scrubbing it in a circular motion.

The limescale and other grime should easily lift away. Once you have removed all the stains, simply rinse the shower glass with water, and it should be completely cleaned.

If you want to prevent limescale buildup in the future, make sure to clean your shower every one to two weeks and that your bathroom has plenty of airflow so that the glass dries quickly after a shower.

The expert said: “Proper ventilation is especially important to minimise the burden of bathroom cleaning. Always open all doors and windows after taking a shower.”
