While the title of King could evoke images of grandeur, feasts, and luxury, the reality for is far from leisurely, according to a former royal butler.
Grant Harrold, from 2004 to 2011, has provided an interesting insight into how royals spend their days, which are mostly filled with engagements, responsibilities and meetings.
Speaking on behalf of , Mr Harrold revealed that despite the popular image of royal decadence, you would “never catch the King having breakfast in bed”.
He explained: “The day would always begin with breakfast, the only difference with the royals is that it would always be taken in the dining room. You would certainly never catch the King having breakfast in bed.”

After breakfast, royal engagements begin at 10am, and the King “would hardly ever stop for lunch and engagements would continue throughout the day.”
Mr Harrold revealed if the royals have to miss lunch, their day .
He added: “Often one of their engagements later in the day would usually involve an afternoon tea to make up for the lack of lunch. The royals are huge advocates for afternoon tea. This is traditionally taken between 4-6pm.
“All engagements are usually finished by the early evening, but sadly this is when the office work begins. Charles doesn’t really stop.”
If not attending a state banquet, dinner is usually served between 8pm and 11pm, but this could “change drastically on the weekends if there is a shoot party” which would tend to focus on the guests.
