These are the most popular baby boy names in the U.S.

The top baby boy names have been announced by the Social Security Administration, which tracks all baby names in the United States.

The most common baby boy names in the country are Liam, Noah and Oliver.

You can look at the full list of the top 1,000 baby boy names, below, to get ideas or see how your child’s name ranks.

Whether you’re looking for a popular classic in the top 100, or something a little more unusual toward the end of the list (time for Abner to make a comeback?), you’ll find plenty of strong, cute and cool names here.

The Social Security Administration tracks baby names, and every year releases its list of the most popular names. This list includes names from 2023, the most recent data available.

For the past five years, Liam has been No. 1 in the rankings. The name’s longer form, William, comes in at No. 10.

One new name made the list of top 10 baby boy names: Mateo, which took the No. 6 spot and bounced out Benjamin, which was the No. 9 name in 2022.

Mateo, which climbed up from No. 11 in 2022, means “gift of God.” The name is a Spanish version of Matthew (derived from the Hebrew name Mattityahu); the Italian version, also popular in the U.S., is Matteo.

The three names at the bottom of the list — but still cracking the top 1,000 — are Cullen, Damari and Hollis.

In addition to the most popular names, the SSA also identified the “fastest-rising” names. These names are used very rarely, but they’ve been shooting up the charts.
