currently don’t plan to pursue the signing of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window, according to reports. Osimhen has continued his prolific goalscoring exploits on loan at Galatasaray this season, sparking fresh links to a move to Old Trafford.
is widely expected to target a new striker ahead of his first full season as United’s head coach. The Red Devils’ woes in front of goal last term have leaked into the current campaign, with their attack the sixth-worst in the Premier League after 27 games. However, finding a solution is believed to be at the top of the summer to-do list, among multiple other areas to upgrade.
Osimhen has been a long-term subject of reported interest from the Premier League and United, in particular.
The M16 giants have also been linked with Viktor Gyokeres, Liam Delap, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Jonathan David since Amorim’s November arrival.
has scored just two Premier League goals since inheriting the No. 9 shirt last summer – on the back of his 16-goal debut campaign.
Amorim has publicly admitted that Zirkzee isn’t a frontman, preferring to utilise him as one of the attacking midfielders in his 3-4-3 system.
So a new striker is firmly on the agenda, but United are primed to direct their search away from Osimhen and towards alternative options.

It’s claimed that Osimhen represents the type of transfer that INEOS have agreed to move away from after years of reckless spending under the Glazer regime.
The new-look United hierarchy reportedly wants to invest in younger signings who are ready to make an instant impact but won’t break the bank.
Osimhen is set to be available for £58million this summer, with Napoli ready to offload him permanently once he returns from Istanbul.
That fee – lower than the £72m splashed out to sign Hojlund from Atalanta in 2023 – could prove to be a bargain.
But INEOS have vowed to fix the problems caused by big-money flops across the past decade of decline and will back Amorim another way.
United spent heavily last summer to show their support after months of job uncertainty. Yet, Noussair Mazraoui was the oldest recruit, aged 26.
The January capture of 20-year-old Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu for £25m offered a taste of the breed of signings to come at the start of Amorim’s reign.
