champion Barbora Krejcikova fears she will never be completely free of pain after
The Czech star lifted her second Grand Slam singles title at the All England Club last summer.
But she has not played a match since November and has now shed light on a worrying incident that saw her almost collapse weeks after winning .
Krejcikova recently withdrew from the upcoming WTA 1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami, extending her lengthy injury layoff.
After winning last year, Krejcikova has not been able to build on her form and is yet to play a match in 2025 due to a back injury.
The world No. 16 went on an impressive run at SW19, beating the likes of Elena Rybakina, Jasmine Paolini and Danielle Collins to claim her second Major singles trophy, more than three years after winning her first at the French Open.
Krejcikova has revealed that some of her problems started a few weeks after winning , admitting she rushed into the Olympic tennis event, which was played on the clay courts at Roland Garros.
“Going from grass to clay is the hardest, and there was also very little time,” the 29-year-old told .

“The first day it rained, then it was hot, I played in the afternoon in the greatest heat, plus long matches. And then doubles in the evening. The next day again. My strength was decreasing very quickly.”
Krejcikova played both singles and doubles, with doubles No. 1 Katerina Siniakova. The duo were the favourites to take home the gold medal. But entering multiple draws took its toll on Krejcikova, and she almost collapsed after a match.
She added: “I did an interview after the match, but I didn’t feel well. I had to lie down, they brought me a Coke to give me energy. My head was spinning, I had cramps.
“It’s the national team, a very important thing for me. I couldn’t tell Katka that I wouldn’t play, that’s not possible, even if I had to drop out there. Which is what happened.”
After a disappointing end to the summer, Krejcikova bounced back at the WTA Finals in November and beat Jessica Pegula and to reach the semi-final.
But she has not played a match since, pulling out of the and multiple WTA 1000 events with a back injury. The former world No. 2 now fears she will never compete without pain.
“The recovery is not as fast as I hoped, but I am doing everything to return as soon as possible,” Krejcikova explained.
“I just wonder if I will ever be completely free of pain. It stresses me out.”
