has reportedly discussed a summer exit from after failing to strike an agreement in January. The Uruguayan, who has struggled for consistency at Anfield, was a target for Al-Nassr in the winter window.
Nunez has fallen out of favour since ’s arrival. The Dutchman has preferred the likes of Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo as the central figure in ’s attack.
The 25-year-old has made only seven starts and his attitude was criticised by Slot after he came off the bench in the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa nine days ago. Nunez missed a big second-half chance and Slot felt his work-rate suffered in the aftermath.
Al-Nassr attempted to sign Nunez in January but a deal fell through. The Saudi Arabian outfit eventually added former Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran to their ranks, which include Cristiano Ronaldo and icon Sadio Mane.
According to , a summer exit for Nunez remains a ‘concrete possibility’. A move has reportedly been discussed in recent months.
signed Nunez from Benfica for an initial £64million in 2022. That fee was expected to one day rise to a club-record £85m.
However, Nunez has struggled to live up to the high expectations set by his price tag. He has scored four Premier League goals across 894 minutes – the equivalent of 10 full matches.
The 33-cap Uruguay international scored 15 goals across all competitions during his first full season and then 18 in the next. Some of his better performances have come in European competitions.

boss Slot has been unhappy with Nunez’s work-rate in recent matches against Villa and Wolves, with the forward doing little to prove he deserves increased game time.
“I helped him by saying you can miss a chance,” Slot said before ’s 2-0 win over on Wednesday. “I wasn’t only hard on him. But for the second time in a row I wasn’t happy with his work effort, against Wolves and against Villa.
“I can’t accept if a player doesn’t give everything. That is clear. I can accept it once, but twice was a bit too much. That’s why I addressed it.
“If you miss a chance, you need to be fighting for the team. I’m not saying he didn’t do that at all, but it wasn’t the usual Darwin, the one that is loved by the fans. That is mainly because he always works so hard.”
