Lloyds and Nationwide customers among thousands locked out of online banking

Many Lloyds Bank, Halifax, Nationwide and First Direct customers are suffering issues that are leaving them locked out of their accounts, according to Downdetector.

Most of the reports include problems accessing mobile or online banking, while a number of people taking to Downdetector mentioned issues with making payments. 

On X (formerly Twitter) told customers it was working to get things back to normal.

Helen Kenan posted: @AskNationwidesays service is ok but no accounts uploading. Cannot use my accounts for anything. What is going on?

Nationwide replied: Sorry, some account information may not be displaying online at the moment. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as we can. 

@becky86173 posted: @AskNationwide morning, account balances aren’t updating. I’ve just transferred my bills money from NatWest to Nationwide and it’s not updated. I’ve checked app and via online banking on a browser.

On X Lloyds Bank was telling customers who were having trouble logging in or making a payment, to close their app from running in the background “& then reopen it”.
