Ex-royal staffer reveals what Prince William and Kate are really like behind closed doors

The Prince and Princess of Wales’s major to South Wales was not “surprising” according to a former royal butler, who said they have always been a “fun couple”.

and Princess Kate to carry out engagements ahead of St David’s Day.

Kate and William visited market traders in the area, Meadow Street Community Garden, and Woodland to learn how the community is coping following the recent devastating flooding.

Throughout their visit, the couple could be seen being affectionate with each other, placing their hands on each others backs, while in a video uploaded by Kensington Palace, the two can be seen walking together while holding hands.

They also shared a laugh as they went head to head in a Welsh cake-making challenge.

Now King Charles’ former butler, Grant Harrold, opened up about the dynamic in their relationship and shared what they are like behind closed doors.

Speaking on behalf of , Mr Harrold said: “This display isn’t surprising to me. I have always said that William and Katherine have always been a fun couple, similar to how King Charles and Queen Camilla are.

“They have a very similar sense of humour, and there is quite a competitive edge to it. There has always been a lot of competitive banter between the two of them.”

He added: “Behind closed doors they have always been a very fun couple, with a lot of practical jokes going on between them and they were always winding each other up.

“There was always laughter and humour, which made them enjoyable to be around.”

The ex-royal staffer said that it’s “nice” that the public can get to see this side of them.

He stated: “I have always told people about how they are behind closed doors and it is nice that everyone gets to see that.

“It is nice to see them relax a bit and have fun together in the public eye this year.”
