Hollywood veteran Gene Hackman has been found dead at the age of 95 alongside his wife Betsy Arakawa in their Santa Fe home.
The pair were found dead on Wednesday afternoon (February 26) along with their dog, County Sheriff Adan Mendoza has confirmed.
Betsy, a classical pianist, was 63 years old.
The sheriff confirmed there was “no immediate indication of foul play”, but did not provide a cause of death.
He said: “All I can say is that we’re in the middle of a preliminary death investigation, waiting on approval of a search warrant.”

Gene and Betsy tied the knot back in 1991. The French Connection star and two time Oscar winner Gene reportedly started dating Betsy in the mid 80s, but said he did not abandon his first wife Faye Maltese for her.
He said: “By the way, I did not leave my real-life wife for a younger woman. We just drifted apart. We lost sight of each other. When you work in this business, marriage takes a great deal of work and love.”
Gene was born in January 1930, and enlisted in the Army after lying about his age when he was 16. He served in the military for four and a half years before going into acting.

But in 2008, he announced his retirement, telling press: “I haven’t held a press conference to announce retirement, but yes, I’m not going to act any longer. I really don’t want to do it any longer.”
In 1990 Hackman underwent angioplasty due to congestive heart failure. Dr Herbert Semler said at the time that he got to the actor in the “nick of time”, treating him for partial blockage of a coronary blood vessel.
He had been vacationing in Oregon when he began suffering chest pains and was rushed to hospital to have a balloon catheter inserted into his artery.
