Kenyan authorities are on the hunt for a man linked to the tragic death of businessman The 58-year-old is suspected to have been kidnapped and brutally tortured prior to his body being abandoned in a secluded woodland area.

According to local press, detectives are keen to interrogate two men seen with Campbell in Nairobi shortly before he disappeared. One individual, captured on CCTV in proximity to the national just before he went missing, is thought to have hailed a taxi and travelled with Campbell to a well-known slum within the city.

Franklin Wallah from Citizen TV reported: “Investigators are pursuing crucial details into arresting key suspects who are considered to be persons of interest in the brutal of British national Campbell Scott.

“Among the two is this man. say they are pursuing him to record his statement. It is suspected the man is the one who requested a taxi and took a ride with the deceased to Nairobi’s Pipeline estate.”

The taxi driver, though now out on bail after giving a statement, has pointed out to police where he offloaded Campbell and his vehicle has been confiscated for further examination in the case.

Scott, a senior director for a credit scoring firm, had travelled to Nairobi’s affluent Westlands district for a business trip, arriving on February 15. He was last seen the following evening in the company of an unidentified man after visiting a nightclub.

On Monday, unsettling CCTV footage surfaced, capturing his final known movements as he walked through a car park wearing a blue rugby top with the Scotland flag on the shoulder and shorts. A disturbing image, which appears to be Scott’s body dressed in the same attire he was last seen in, lying on his back on an open sack, has since circulated on social media.

The image also shows pineapples next to him, which authorities revealed were found in the sack alongside the body. It is suspected that his attackers attempted to disguise themselves as fruit vendors in case they were stopped at a roadblock with the corpse.

On Tuesday, teams spent hours at the isolated location where Campbell’s mutilated body was discovered. According to Kenyan newspapers, detectives are investigating the theory that he was held against his will at a house on the Pipeline estate while thieves stole his cash.

Franklin Wallah added: “Plans are underway for an autopsy as police work on forensic analysis of the deceased’s mobile phone and his bank accounts. Police want to find out if there are any financial transactions prior to Scott’s killing.”

Scott, a businessman in the city for a conference at the JW Marriott hotel, mysteriously disappeared after telling colleagues he was stepping out to alleviate jet lag before their presentation. They expected him back shortly, but alarm bells rang when Scott never returned, prompting his colleagues to file a missing persons report.

The search escalated quickly, with Interpol stepping in to assist. Tragically, upon the discovery of Scott’s body, local reports suggested signs of torture and strangulation, though the official post-mortem results remain pending.

A Foreign Office spokesperson has confirmed: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Kenya and are in contact with the local authorities.”
