In October 2018, while working for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as their communications secretary, Mr Knauf made a bullying complaint against Meghan – emailing his concerns to William’s then-private secretary in an apparent attempt to force Buckingham Palace to protect staff. The duchess has always vehemently denied the allegations.
The email was leaked to The Times just days before and Buckingham Palace launched an internal review at the time regarding the claims but the findings were never made public.
Mr Knauf’s rare TV interview, explored William’s breakdown of his relationship with Harry describing it as both a “hard and sad” time.
He also said he wished Harry and Meghan “the absolute best” and added: “We had lots of great times, working on their wedding was an amazing magical experience and I wish them absolutely all the best with their lovely family.”
Alluding to the interview, journalist Amanda Platell wrote in the : “Was this a clear dig at Harry who went on make millions out of his alleged grievances against the royals and the appalling way they had treated his ‘suicidal’ wife? A wife who pleaded ‘not just to survive but thrive’?”
