‘I present A Place in the Sun and here’s what you never see on-screen’

presenter has confessed that the team sometimes have to make the properties on the show “look great” for the cameras, particularly if they have been left sitting empty for a while.

Speaking exclusively to the star, who joined the show in 2021, intimated things aren’t always what they seem with older properties on the show.

Although it appears that most of the properties are well presented during the viewings, Lee confessed they sometimes have to give it a helping hand.

“Sometimes when we go to houses (or) to apartments we make them look great. Because sometimes they could be lock up and leave, or they could be old houses like in France.

“In France we film a lot in the country, and it’s beautiful and people want to go to the country. But a lot of these old farmhouses have been locked up for a while, and they haven’t gone in. So when the crew goes in before I do, they try to make it look nice,” he admitted.

Despite the team’s best efforts Lee revealed he has encountered unwanted guests in these older houses.

“I remember, there was a time where I literally couldn’t go into this room because it was an old farmhouse, and I saw a mouse

“I was like, ‘Nope, I can’t film in there’. I really, literally was climbing up the stairs and I could not move (with fear),” he confessed.

Lee, who also hosts sister show A Place In The Sun: What Happened Next admits it is not just rogue mice that give him the heebie geebies, and his fears would appear to rule out a stint on anytime soon.

“I really am scared of everything. I’m petrified. The crew always says to me ‘it’s just a bug. You’re fine!’

“I’m fearful of, mice and like insects and spiders. So I think the jungle would be very challenging,” he said.

“But, I mean, I’m very active and I like to kind of push myself out of my comfort zone, so maybe it’s something worth exploring.”

A Place In The Sun is on Channel 4 weekdays at 6pm. A Place In The Sun: What Happened Next returns to screens soon.
