Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is mourning the loss of his beloved French bulldog named after his character from the “Fast & Furious” franchise.
Johnson shared a poignant message about the dog’s death on Instagram on Feb. 25 featuring photos and videos of him enjoying moments with Hobbs over the years.
“RIP đź’” Hobbs. I’ve been numb over this loss, but we’re so grateful for every ounce of pure love he gave our entire family and we’re so grateful he didn’t suffer long as he quietly and bravely left in the night,” he wrote.
“Lately, there’s been a lot that’s too big to talk about. Lonesome, lonely, heard it’s all the same,” he continued. “One of my favorite songs felt appropriate here, as I wonder what’s going on his new world, because I know what it’s like in mine.”
Johnson shared videos of him laying his head gently on his dog’s back and playfully nudging Hobbs with his foot.
“Not sure how spirits work but come back and visit every once in a while so we can get in trouble and laugh again,” he wrote.
Fans shared their condolences for the loss of Hobbs, who was named after Luke Hobbs, the bounty hunter Johnson played in six films in the “Fast & Furious” series.
“RIP Hobbs, what a good boy,” celebrity magician Oz Pearlman commented on Instagram, with crying and broken-heart emoji at the beginning of his message.
“Rest well and easy Hobbs,” another wrote with sad-face and praying-hands emoji.
“So sorry for your loss DJ. He’s in doggy heaven right now going ‘you won’t even BELIEVE the life I’ve had,'” read another comment.
Dogs have long been a part of Johnson’s family. Johnson wrote on Instagram in 2015 that he acquired Hobbs at the same time as another French bulldog, Brutus, when they were puppies.
