Meghan Markle is a woman of many talents – from acting and cooking, to arts and crafts – there’s very few things that this star cannot do.
However, one area in which the Duchess may appear to struggle is in the music department.
The 43-year-old, who is showcasing her culinary skill in new show, With Love, Meghan, has rarely displayed her vocal prowess, apart from joining in with crowds of others to sing the British national anthem.
Years before the Suits actress found love with , she had an online blog called The Tig. Among the many topics she wrote about was music and she compiled a list of tracks she loved at the time.
Writing on the blog she said: “Turn these tracks on as you’re getting ready in the morning, when you need a mid-afternoon pick-me-up, or during your next evening celebration.
Don’t miss…
“Because when the air is filled with positive vibes, there’s no winter cold that can block out the warmth of happy hearts.”
So without further-ado, here are the tracks on the playlist that the Duchess calls “a fresh dose of unbridled joy”.
Maggie Rogers – Dog Years
This song is from American singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers, who was discovered by Pharrell Williams. Dog Years has an uplifting 80s vibe to it and the accompanying music video is entertaining too.
Crystal Fighters – LA Calling
The English/Spanish electronic band formed in London bring and absolutely bring a large dose of joy with this track. The band sing “I want in, ride all night LA calling. Bathed in sunlight”. Perhaps a nod to Meghan’s future living in sunny Montecito, just a couple of hours away from Los Angeles.
Mr Little Jeans – Don’t Run
Continuing with her eclectic taste in music, Meghan picked Mr Little Jeans, a Norwegian singer whose real name is Monica Linn Birkenes. Don’t Run is upbeat and has been used for the trailer of a Marvel TV show called Runaways.
Flight Facilities, Reggie Watts – Sunshine
Sunshine is the ultimate summer groove. You can just imagine Meghan and Harry cruising down the freeway heading to the beach with the roof down. It is a very underrated track.
Don’t miss…
Janelle Monáe – Dance Apocalyptic
Janelle Monáe fuses different sounds from hip-hop, doo-wop, rock, Motown, new wave and dance-pop for this absolute banger. The electric guitar teamed with synthesizers give this song its strong kick.
Dragonette – Let it Go
Meghan rounds off her playlist with electropop and new wave Canadian band, Dragonette. The extremely upbeat track was a hit in Canada but failed to find similar success anywhere else in the world. Nevertheless, this gem of a track is sure to get you energised and dancing as much as it did the Duchess.
