still has plenty to give to tennis. Despite being a four-time Major winner and a former world No. 1, Osaka has three dreams she wants to achieve.
The Japanese tennis star is gearing up to return at Indian Wells after
Osaka has yet to lift a title since returning from her pregnancy break last year but she is still as motivated as ever and has now outlined her biggest goals.
Osaka has two titles and two US Open trophies to her name. The 27-year-old has always been seen as something of a hard-court specialist, traditionally struggling on the clay and grass.
The former world No. 1 has never made it to the second week of the French Open or . Osaka even took a five-year break from the grass-court Grand Slam and did not compete at the All England Club between 2019 and 2024.
But Osaka is keen to improve her results on natural surfaces so she can achieve her dreams.
“I have a lot of goals going forward. For as long as I can play, I really want to win and Roland Garros and get a career grand slam,” Osaka told .

“It’s interesting when I hear from an outside perspective because, of course, all of the achievements (I’ve had so far) are great, but I always feel like there’s a lot more to do.”
Osaka has been gaining momentum since returning to tennis in 2024, though some injuries have set her back.
The 27-year-old beat 10th seed Jelena Ostapenko at last year’s US Open then made it to the last 16 at the WTA 1000 in Beijing before retiring injured against .
At the start of the 2025 season, Osaka reached her first final in three years at the ASB Classic in Auckland but, again, she was forced to retire.
The current world No. 57 then beat Caroline Garcia and Karolina Muchova at the before being forced to end her campaign in the third round.
Osaka has not played since, but she will compete in the MGM Rewards Slam exhibition ahead of the upcoming WTA 1000 in Indian Wells.
“I think I’m playing really well, even from last year, the end of last year. I got injured there too,” she added. “But I’ve beaten some really good players. So I hope that I can continue that trend.”
Osaka is a former champion in Indian Wells, winning her first title there in 2018, and will be hoping to have another deep run.
