A woman has died while riding a bike around a university campus, police have confirmed.
Officers rushed to the University of Nottingham’s Park Campus today, responding to what has been described as a “tragic accident” on East Drive’s junction with Keighton Hill.
Police say that the 21-year-old was riding an electric bicycle in the early hours of this morning when she sustained serious injuries during the road traffic incident.
Despite the best efforts of medics, the woman was pronounced dead in hospital and her parents have been informed.
Officers and police vehicles have been at the location since the morning.
A university security officer said the incident occurred last night, while a police officer said the incident involved two bikes. Two Lime bikes were visible in the police cordon, reports .

Public transport disruption
Nottingham City Transport (NCT) has said that its Orange 34 bus service is diverting and unable to serve East Drive or the Lakeside Arts Centre.
Passengers are being advised to instead use stops at the George Green Library or Portland Hill.
In addition, traffic monitoring site Inrix says bus services 901 and 902 are diverting because of this morning’s incident.
Where is the campus?
The University of Nottingham’s Park Campus is located on the outskirts of the city centre.
Wollaton Park is to the north, and Queen’s Medical Centre is close by to the north east.
The town of Beeston is to the south west.
Two bikes seen inside cordon
Nottinghamshire Live’s reporter at the scene has spoken to a police officer, who said that the incident involved two bikes.
Two Lime bikes can be seen within the police cordon that has been set up this morning.

Student describes shock
A student who did not want to be named has told of her shock at the police presence.
They told Nottinghamshire Live: “We heard about the incident through friends and online and came to see it in person.
“It’s shocking to see it in real life with the road closed off, especially after what’s been happening in Nottingham recently.”
