saw a heated debate unfold as UK Member of Parliament Rupert Lowe and Labour MP Barry Gardiner clashed over .

It came after Prime Minister recent remarks. Starmer criticised , accusing them of displaying undue admiration for Russian President and endorsing a brand right-wing politics that he described as potentially harmful.

Rupert Lowe insisted that the Prime Minister’s remarks indicated a deep-seated anxiety about the growing influence of Reform UK.

He claimed that Labour has every reason to fear their party’s impact in the upcoming elections, as he said they’re determined to “eviscerate” Labour at the ballot box. Lowe did not hold back, characterising Starmer as “a rabbit in the headlights,” suggesting that the Prime Minister’s reaction reflects his concern over Reform UK’s rising prominence within the political landscape.

“It’s absolute rubbish,” he added, dismissing Starmer’s comments and framing them as a desperate attempt to deflect attention from the genuine challenges posed by his party.

“They’ve made it easy for us. They’ve attacked every sector of society where we do well. Labour is gradually destroying the private sector economy.

“Rachel Reeves is putting up taxes on the private sector and putting up the salaries of public sector workers.

“Reform is going to take a lot of votes and eviscerate Labour at the next election.

“Not recently”, Lowe hit back. “What about when he said Putin is the guy he most respected in politics?” Gardiner went on to question.

“You want me to justify what does; he is the leader of your party.”

Lowe responded: “That was over ten years ago”, but Gardiner continued, saying it “goes to the heart of the man”.

“He respected a dictator. He respected a tyrant who assassinated five people who had the guts to stand up to him in . Do you support Putin? Answer the question.”

During the heated exchange, Gardiner confronted the Reform MP, levelling accusations of ‘blustering’ as a means of deflecting from pressing inquiries.

The Labour MP persistently sought clarification on Starmer’s specific allegations against Reform, challenging Lowe to detail any inaccuracies in those claims.

“Let’s talk about critical issues,” he urged, highlighting the National Health Service (NHS) matter and the pressing need for legislation to prevent workers from being abruptly terminated.

He continued to draw attention to geopolitical concerns, stating: “And what about the situation with Putin? It’s important to note that Farage has previously supported him.”
