The and US Presidents have been in power at the same time for years, with an intermission after Mr Trump lost the 2020 to .
When they meet, footage usually shows the two men engaging in an enthusiatic handshake, which has been described as an implicit tussle.
Amid the French leader’s visit yesterday, footage was shared online from 2017, 2024, as well as from the latest instance.
It shows a 29 second long engagement during Mr Trump’s visit to France for Bastille Day commemorations a few months after Macron first became President.

The leaders seem to pull at one another, each keen to prove their strength.
Mr Trump can even been seen keeping hold of his counterpart’s hand while he greets and kisses his wife, Brigitte. He then holds her hand as well as her husband’s.
Footage was also shared of the pair’s meeting in Paris in December ahead of an event making the reopening of Notre Dame, before Mr Trump was inaugurated for the second time.
At the time, Drew Hernandez said on X: “President Trump manhandles French President Emmanuel Macron with one of the most dominating handshakes I’ve ever seen. We are so back.”
A shorter, but still macho handshake ensued as the men posed for the cameras.
A similar greeting occurred on Monday, after Macron got out of a car at the White House. The French President momentarily clasped his hand over Mr Trump’s.

It was described as “an absolute death grip of a handshake” online.
The men later seemed to hold hands in the Oval Office in front of the press, Trump placing his hand on Macron’s knee.
Jeremy Art took to X to describe the interraction as “awkward”.
@Planet_Belfast shared fooitage of another handshake shared by the pari at a press conference, and said the UK Prime Minister needs to prepare ahead of his meeting with Trump on Thursday.
They wrote: “Trump gets owned by Macron yet again. I hope is practicing power handshakes.”
Another account simply wrote: “The Trump/Macron handshakes never get old.”
