Jamie Lee Curtis reacts to Keke Palmer donning dress she famously wore in 1985

Keke Palmer arrived at the 2025 SAG Awards unknowingly donning a look that paid tribute to one of her “mentors.”

Palmer attended the star-studded ceremony Feb. 23 dressed to the nines in a vintage Chanel gown. The dress originally appeared on the runway in 1985, according to the actor’s stylist Molly Dickson, who shared more pictures and details of the outfit on her Instagram story.

The “One of Them Days” star posed on the red carpet in the svelte velvet black gown that featured a stunning gold neckline and elegant black gloves. She styled the look with an auburn bob and bright red lip. Later in the evening, she continued to show off the gown when she presented an award alongside Colman Domingo.

Also in attendance at the 2025 SAG Awards was Jamie Lee Curtis, who previously wore the same classic Chanel dress on Feb. 28, 1986 at the First Annual American Cinematheque Award Salute to Eddie Murphy. But Sunday night, Curtis opted for a sequined and feathered black gown. The Oscar-winner took the stage to present an award, as well.

Hours after the ceremony ended, Curtis posted a screenshot from People magazine on Instagram that showed her and Palmer both sporting the gown, nearly 40 years apart.

“As much as I would love to say it was mine, it was borrowed from my friend @debopp and I’m thrilled to be anywhere near @keke in style and grace and talent!,”  Curtis sweetly shared in the caption.

Palmer replied to Curtis’ post and cheered in the comments, “My QUEEN! I love you!!!!”

The next day, Palmer returned to Instagram to share pictures from the Hollywood event and revealed in the caption that she was unaware Curtis rocked the look before her.

“All I can say is, what a weekend! I picked this dress last night because I thought it was beautiful, never realized one of my mentors @jamieleecurtis had worn it before!” Palmer said.

She went on to gush about Curtis, whom she starred with in the short-lived Fox series “Scream Queens.”

“Our time on Scream Queens taught me so much, I need you guys to know that she took me under her wing and SAW me during that show,” Palmer wrote. “Maybe one day I’ll do a one woman show and give y’all the tea, ha!”

Palmer also revealed that the two have kept in touch since then.

“When Leo was born she sent him a load of books, ones which he holds dear to this day,” Palmer continued of Curtis, also referring to her nearly 2-year-old son.

At the end of the post, Palmer further praised Curtis, adding, “She is a one of a kind in this industry and I can’t wait until we are reunited on the big or small screen. She’s what we call, a real one!”

Curtis and Palmer worked together on Ryan Murphy’s “Scream Queens” from 2015 to 2016 and the “Halloween” star was nothing but complimentary about their time as co-stars.

In August 2016, Curtis uploaded a snap of Palmer to Instagram celebrating her birthday on set.
