Meanwhile, 19 Scottish counties are also expected to see snowy conditions: Dumfries and Galloway, South Ayrshire, East Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire, West Dunbartonshire, East Dunbartonshire, North Lanarkshire, Glasgow City, Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, West Lothian, Falkirk, Clackmannanshire, Stirling, Argyll and Bute, Perth and Kinross, Highland, Moray, Aberdeenshire.
Freezing and icy weather looks set to extend to all four home nations, with Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland all seeing some of the white stuff, with the Highlands likely to see the heaviest snowfall.
High winds with gusts up to 70mph are also shown on weather charts, which could create blizzard-like conditions, and snow drifts in some places.

A long-range forecast from March 10 to March 24 said the weather was expected to be “changeable” across the UK.
It said: “The weather is expected to be changeable across the UK with Atlantic, with frontal systems pushing across the UK from the west at times.
“These will bring periods of wet and windy weather, with western and northwestern areas likely to see the heaviest rainfall and strongest winds.
“Drier and brighter weather is expected between frontal systems, and likely feeling warm in the sunshine where winds fall light. Temperatures are likely to be above average overall, although some short-lived cooler spells are possible at times.”

Looking ahead to this week, the national forecaster said that Tuesday would be another day of “generally sunny spells and scattered showers”.
The said the westerly pattern for the UK is likely to continue through the week, with showers and possibly longer spells of rain and windy conditions likely at times.
The weather service had said on Sunday that fast-flowing or deep floodwater was likely to cause danger to life, as well as warning of possible “delays and some cancellations to train and bus services”.
The Environment Agency warned people not to drive through floods, adding that “just 30cm of flowing water is enough to float your car”, and urging people to sign up for free flood warnings.
Andrew Morgan, leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf council, said Sunday had been a “close call” after thousands of sandbags were distributed to high-risk areas. Hundreds of homes and businesses in the area were flooded in November by Storm Bert.

Showers easing through the evening, though some will continue across the far northwest overnight. Dry for many, with clear spells. Chillier than of late, though staying mostly frost free.
Tuesday:
Tomorrow will be another bright day, with many having a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers. Staying a little breezy and feeling cooler than today.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Outbreaks of rain for many on Wednesday. Drier and brighter on Thursday. Sunny spells Friday, with rain in the northwest later. Temperatures near average, with a chance of overnight frosts.
