If you’re craving a holiday to kick the year off right then this month could be the best time to score a great deal. January sales are often being extended into February, and keep their prices low too, so booking now could save you some serious cash.

There are other ways to save money too – by booking holidays to lesser travelled destinations you can keep your money for other experiences.

Laura Evans-Fisk, head of digital engagement atsaid: “Whilst Brits can often snap up some cheaper deals by booking a package holiday, the destinations can be limited to the more popular resorts across Europe.

“If exploring a lesser-known destination is important to you, booking flights and accommodation separately is often the best way to go. However, it doesn’t mean you can’t still find a bargain deal.

“Countries in South Eastern Europe such as , Slovenia and Montenegro have absolutely stunning scenery, but are very cheap to travel to and stay.”

Sarajevo in Bosnia is a lesser travelled destination which can offer a fabulous holiday at a lower price point.

Laura said: “Saravejo is known as the ‘Jerusalem of Europe’, and has one of the most diverse cultures on the continent, making it one of the most intriguing cities you can visit.

“It is one of the only places where you can visit a Mosque, a Catholic church, an Eastern Orthodox church and a synagogue in one place.

“Tucked inside a long, thin valley and surrounded by forested mountains, the city is a picture-perfect backdrop.

“Its broad mix of cultural influences means its architecture is also absolutely beautiful, and its restaurant scene is an eclectic mix of Turkish and Bosnian inspired offerings.

“And, with prices averaging at just £10 per person for a three-course meal, your money really does go far here.”

Even better, a pint will only set you back £1.69 – significantly cheaper than you’ll find anywhere in the UK.

If you want to experience this gorgeous city thencurrently has return flights from across the UK in March starting as low as £49
