As tourist hotspots continue to smash records for the number of arrivals and , it is no surprise that many Brits are now looking further afield for potential holiday destinations for 2025.
After the first payday of the year, some 10 million are locking in their summer holiday plans, with more than three in 10 setting their sights on taking more trips this year.
Digital PR agency has analysed fresh search data for 2025, updated with insights from this January, to reveal the top travel destinations Brits are eyeing for the year ahead.
The study found that interest in flights to Thailand, Japan, China and the have surged dramatically. Meanwhile, European destinations including and Montenegro have all seen notable declines in travel interest so far this year.
Revealed below are the top five destinations that are the most searched-for holiday destinations in 2025 so far – and only one of them is in Europe.

Thailand
The most searched-for flights of 2025 are to , raking in 41,664 Google searches in January. This huge surge in tourism can be attributed to Gen Z, who are casting their sights well beyond European borders into Asia.
An increase of 27% compared to last year – up from 32,861 – was noted by Reboot Online. Emerging as a new hotspot with the destination attracting tourists all year round, locations like and Koh Samui are reporting record numbers of tourists.
Australia
ranks second, with searches for flights totalling 31,582 in January 2025. A record number of Britons are relocating abroad on working holiday visas, with arrivals surging to nearly 50,000—up from 31,000 last year and 21,000 the year before, according to .
According to search trends, there has been a 6% increase in the number of people searching for flights out of the UK to the sunny alternative.
Japan
In 2024, welcomed more than 36 million tourists, setting a new record with a 47% increase from the previous year.
Reboot Online’s research shows that Brits are joining the trend, with 25,646 recorded in 2025. Although some fear the tourism bubble may burst, the favourable exchange remains a major draw for those seeking a unique and dynamic culture. Flight searches have increased by 42% – the highest of the top 10.

Malta
The only European destination in the top five, the Mediterranean gem of is among Brits’ most searched-for holiday destinations – amounting to 17,582 searches in January alone.
Their recent visa-free entry policy has been too good to resist for many. It also stands a world away from the overcrowded cities and World Heritage sites like Dubrovnik, Barcelona and Athens.
India
Last month, 14,358 searches were made for flights to , placing it fifth on the list. A top choice for those looking for budget-friendly luxury, India captures the perfect blend of culture, wildlife, beaches, and history.
Boasting mouthwatering cuisine, a history spanning some 5,000 years, stunning architectural wonders and the world-renowned peaks of the Himalayas, there’s something for every traveller.
The 5 European countries with the biggest decline
Flights to Liechtenstein, Belarus and Serbia saw the biggest decline in travel interest among European destinations, with a decrease of 43%, 40% and 27%, respectively.
Flights to North Macedonia and also both saw a significant decrease in travel interest – both at -24%.
