has issued a brutal reality check to his rivals who complained about his selection, telling they need to prove their ability ‘a bit more’.
The Welshman sent a clear message after , where he defeated the reigning world champion Luke Littler and overcame world No 1 Luke Humphries on route to the final.
‘The Iceman’ is a former PDC world champion himself and enjoyed world No 1 status as recently in 2022. Still, his wildcard selection in the Premier League irked some other players who felt they deserved it more.
Mike De Decker, who won the World Grand Prix by beating Humphries in October, vented his fury at being overlooked along with Dave Chisnall, a two-time European title winner in 2024. But Price, 39, made his thoughts clear on why the duo were snubbed by the PDC despite their strong performances, as he was picked along with Stephen Bunting, Chris Dobey and Nathan Aspinall.
“We deliver,” Price stated, when asked why he was picked. “We weren’t as consistent as we wanted to be last year or maybe the last 12-18 months. But when push comes to shove, we will deliver, and we will put bums on seats and we will entertain. We want to do that every week. Week-in, week-out.”
He then laid down the gauntlet to his rivals, adding: “Can Damon Heta, Mike De Decker and Chizzy [Chisnall] do that? Maybe. But they need to prove it a little bit more.”
If there were any doubters about Price’s ability heading into Dublin, those have been quashed after he produced another statement performance in the Irish capital.

Price delivered at the oche once again, averaging just over 100 and hitting 50 per cent out his checkouts, to beat Aspinall 6-3 in the final and claim his first nightly victory since 2023.
Despite his dominant display in Dublin, Price insisted that he wasn’t at his best as he explained his self-belief when taking on the likes of Littler and Humphries.
”I wouldn’t say that was my A Game in Dublin – my highest average on the night was 102. That was probably like my B game. There is a hell of a lot more in the tank when I am on it.”

He added: “And I know if I play well and bring my A-game to the stage, then whether it’s Luke or Michael [van Gerwen] or anybody, it doesn’t matter who I play.
“And I always say that. Some people say I am cocky and arrogant saying it, but it ain’t like that. If I am playing well, I know I’ll win games.”
