Daniel Dubois was set to defend his IBF heavyweight title against Joseph Parker on Saturday evening, until he had to withdraw due to illness. It was scheduled to be the first time that the hard-hitting 27-year-old has had to defend his belt since clinching it via a of at Wembley back in September.
With hopes of a rematch with firmly in mind following a ninth-round knockout loss to the undefeated Ukrainian in 2023, Dubois will have hoped to put an end to 35-3 Parker’s five-fight unbeaten streak at the Kingdom Arena in – potentially even adding a 22nd career knockout to his already impressive professional record of 22-1.
However, when Dubois was reportedly struck down with fever and forced to miss Thursday’s press conference, it was announced that he had withdrawn from the contest with Parker, only to be replaced by Congolese up-and-comer, Martin Bakole. With 21 of his 22 career wins coming by way of knockout, Dubois has made quite the name for himself in the heavyweight division. ‘DDD’ went on a 15-fight unbeaten streak before he was humbled for the first time by Joe Joyce in 2020, but he immediately proved his strength and integrity in the face of adversity – bouncing back with wins over Bogdan Dinu, Joe Cusumano, Trevor Bryan and Kevin Lerena.
His second loss came at the hands of Usyk in 2023, missing out on the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO belts. The bout was riddled with controversy, with Dubois’ fifth-round body shot dropping the Ukrainian to the canvas before being ruled a low blow – with the Briton feeling aggrieved by the decision.
Regardless, wins over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Joshua followed to guide Dubois to the in order to face for a second time in 2024. How much is Daniel Dubois paid?
Despite losing his fight with Joyce in 2020, Dubois is said to have raked in a whopping £1.68m after PPV shares for his part in the event. Meanwhile, it is reported that he made around £1.53m for his controversial 2023 bout with Usyk.
Both amounts are ultimately a drop in the ocean compared to the amount that it is estimated that Dubois took home from his September meeting with Joshua at Wembley though, with reports ahead of the bout suggesting that the heavyweight was set to receive at least £3.5m guaranteed.
More interestingly, the same reports also claimed that he may have been set to earn up to £10m in total dependent on PPV shares from the event. Ultimately, however, an exact figure on how much Dubois made from the fight is yet to see light of day.
Has Daniel Dubois got a girlfriend?
It is unknown if Dubois is in a relationship at the time of writing. However, the hard-hitting heavyweight was rumoured to have been dating Raissa Fox in 2024.
Dubois reportedly posted photos of Fox earlier in 2024, dubbing her his “Brazilian queen”, but the images have since been deleted and neither party follow one another on any longer. There was also no confirmation from either on a relationship.
