The popular BBC One series Call the Midwife made its return this weekend, and fans were treated to a surprise comeback. Colette (played by Francesca Fullilove), the daughter of Nancy Corrigan (Megan Cusack), appeared in a dress fitting scene in Poplar, alongside Violet Buckle (Annabelle Apsion), Shelagh Turner (Laura Main) and the other bridesmaids, as they prepared for her mother’s upcoming wedding.
Violet shared some details about Nancy’s big day, revealing that she had changed her mind about her wedding dress, while Shelagh joked about the bridesmaids potentially no longer fitting into their dresses. Although Colette’s return was a welcome surprise, it wasn’t until the preview for next week’s episode that viewers finally caught a glimpse of Nancy herself.
The short clip showed Nancy and Colette reuniting with their old friends in Poplar, but the reason for their visit remains unclear, although it’s likely related to the upcoming wedding plans. The had previously confirmed that actress Megan Cusack had not left the series permanently, following her unexpected departure earlier in season 14.

Nancy had gotten engaged to Roger and temporarily left Poplar to take a role at Netherditch hospital, which she believed would be best for herself and her daughter, and would also bring her closer to Roger.
She had assured her friends at Nonnatus House that her wedding would take place in Poplar, which she fondly refers to as “home”, hinting that her exit was only temporary.
Actress Megan has calmed fans’ nerves about Nancy’s future on the show, confirming that her character isn’t exiting any time soon. “Just because she’s fallen in love, she’s not leaving us,” she assured.

“There’s lots of things happening, she’s got lots going on, you know, a job offer, an engagement, an overbearing mother-in-law-to-be. So she’s got a lot going on.”
As wedding bells ring louder, viewers are left guessing if Nancy’s return is brief or for the long haul, but with nuptial preparations underway, it seems she’ll be gracing our screens more often.
Call the Midwife airs on One on Sundays at 8pm
