Tina Fey and Amy Poehler burst from behind the curtain to interrupt Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” monologue on Wednesday. (Watch the video below.)
The host feigned surprise to see his fellow “Saturday Night Live” alums, who complained that Fallon’s previous joke about President Donald Trump’s executive order to replace paper straws with plastic hadn’t caused a stir.
“You think you can do better?” Fallon asked. Naturally they all joined forces along with “Late Night” host Seth Meyers, another ex-“SNL” regular, in a “Joke Off” on the same subject. Fey pressed the red button first.
“It’s all part of Trump’s plan to make America suck again,” she quipped.
But that wasn’t the winning shtick. The honor bestowed by Fallon went to Poehler, who said: “When Trump was told this might cause more turtles to die, he said, ‘I’m not concerned about Mitch McConnell.’”
The segment came together in advance of “SNL’s” 50th anniversary special on Sunday.
Fast forward to 6:05 for the straw vote:
