Eddie Jordan has opened up about his personal health struggles in the wake of his treatment for cancer. The Formula 1 legend bravely revealed that the disease, which began with a diagnosis of bladder and prostate cancer last year, had spread to his spine and pelvis.

Continuously battling since his diagnosis, Jordan gave a candid update on his condition during a Thursday chat on , while discussing his recent takeover of London Irish.

At the end of the talk, he confided in listeners, admitting: “Sorry guys, just a small thing, thank you. I’ve just come out of getting chemotherapy and I’m not 100 per cent together here guys. I’m just not myself at this moment in time. I’m a little all over the place, so please forgive me.”

Presented Alan Brazil commended Jordan for his transparency, saying: “I wasn’t going to bring it up. But listen, if we can get this out to people, it’s encouraging. Well done you.” Jordan replied: “I just had a big deal of it yesterday, so I’m sorry, I’m not quite myself.”

Wrapping up the segment, Brazil conveyed a supportive message: “Take care Eddie, don’t you worry, you were fine. Get your health better and come back to us with more positive news about London Irish.” Additionally, co-host Gabby Agbonlahor expressed his regard for Jordan, simply stating, “Eddie Jordan, top man.”

Jordan’s health update comes after he called for members of the public to go and get tested for the disease. He told the Formula For Success podcast: “We’ve kind of alluded to it over the shows, way back in March and April, I was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer, and then it spread into the spine and the pelvis, so it was quite aggressive.

“But this is a little message, and everybody listening to this: Don’t waste or put it off. Go and get tested, because in life, you’ve got chances. And there is so much medical advice out there and so many things that you can do to extend your lifetime.

“Go and do it. Don’t be stupid. Don’t be shy. It’s not a shy thing. Look after your body, guys.”

Jordan, who entered the F1 scene in 1991 with his own team, Jordan Grand Prix, and famously gave his debut, sold his team in 2005 after achieving notable success including a third-place finish in 1999 with drivers Damon Hill and Heinz-Harald Frentzen.
