On This Morning, Cat Deeley was left gobsmacked when a colleague shared a rather personal revelation about her very own Bridget Jones-like escapade.
The forthcoming sequel Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy will feature Renee Zellweger returning to her beloved role. This time, Bridget faces new challenges as she copes with widowhood after the startling demise of Mark Darcy and ventures into dating a younger suitor.
In Thursday’s broadcast of the ITV daytime show, Cat and co-host were joined by fashion guru Laura Puddy. As they celebrated 24 years since Bridget first sported her iconic big knickers, the conversation veered towards modern shapewear options for women.
Laura seized the moment to reveal some details from her private life, sharing: “As a single gal in her 40s, I have had a dabble with a younger man.”
Astonished, Cat exclaimed: “Oh. Give me a high five way up there,” reports .

To which Laura responded: “So, I can relate to Bridget on this one.” Prompted by Ben’s curiosity over the age gap, Laura divulged: “He was 17 years younger. He was 23 and I’m 40.”
At this, Cat couldn’t hold back her enthusiasm, cheering: “Yes. Laura Puddy.” The studio was buzzing with intrigue when Ben remarked: “I feel like we’re being distracted but I want to find out more.”
Laughter ensued as Laura teased: “In the next show I’ll tell you everything.” Refocusing the chat to the film, Deeley broached another hot topic: “What about dating apps because she uses those as well?”

Laura shared her personal insights, remarking: “I do think, when you get into your 40s and you’ve been single for a while your friends really encourage you to get back into the dating scene and this happens in the film too and obviously she dabbles in the apps.”
Drawing parallels with her own experiences, she added: “Now she has had more success than me but it is really fun and everything you want from a Bridget Jones film.”
She then switched gears, saying: “There is a lot of references to the original film and with my fashion head on, there is obviously the big pants and we are going to talk about big pants later. So I love that and I just have to say, it’s a feel good film and my cheeks were hurting so much from smiling.”
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV and ITVX
