Apple-owned Beats is back with some very smart new earbuds. They are called the Powerbeats Pro 2 and are built for gym lovers or those who love nothing more than a 5K run when they get home from the office. These music makers not only feature a neat earhook design that makes sure they don’t fall out during those fitness sessions but they also get another upgrade your AirPods can’t match.
That’s thanks to them featuring an in-built heart rate monitor which does exactly what it says on the tin.
Beats says that Accurate Heart Rate Monitoring for workouts gives athletes real-time data on their performance, with LED optical sensors pulsing over 100 times per second to measure blood flow. All this date can be relayed to compatible fitness such as Peloton and Nike Run Club apps in real time.
Of course, these are earbuds and they should offer decent sound thanks to technology such as redesigned acoustic architecture and Personalised Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking for a more immersive experience.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 also get Apple’s market leading Noise Cancelling technology which blocks out background sound plus there’s an added Transparency mode for those times when you want to stay more aware of your surroundings.

There is 10 hours of battery life, they are fully sweat resistant and can be fast charged via their case. Find My technology will help track them down if they get lost; there is simple one-touch pairing, and they work just as well on Android devices as iPhones.
