star Colin Duriez has been charged with historic sex offences.

The 77-year-old from Wallingford, Oxfordshire, has been charged with three counts of indecent assault on a girl aged under 16. The alleged assaults are said to have taken place between 1989 and 1991.

He is set to stand trial at Leicester Crown Court in July 2025.

Duriez is best known for his role on the ’s Worlds of Fantasy series. An expert in fantasy literature, he was brought in to comment on his area of expertise for the broadcaster after penning books about author and ’s series.

He also appeared as a talking head on Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings DVD.

Leicestershire Police released a statement which read: “Colin Duriez has been charged with three counts of sexual assault on a girl under the age of 16 between September 1989 and July 1991.”

Meanwhile, a Crown Court spokesperson added: “I confirm that Colin Duriez is charged with three counts of indecent assault of a girl aged under 16, for trial on July 14.”

Duriez currently lives with his second wife, author Cindy Zudys, and has also worked as a tutor at Lancaster University.

His website states he offers “authorship, editing and publishing services”.

It adds: “Colin has contributed to television documentaries including A Quest for Meaning – Myth, Imagination and Faith in the Literature of JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis.”
