Motorists face hefty price rises within weeks, according to fresh analysis from experts.

Analysis from the group published on their website has suggested which could be a massive dent to cash-strapped individuals.
explained: “The new 2025 road tax, or Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), rates in the UK have seen significant changes.
“These changes are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to encourage the use of more environmentally friendly vehicles and reduce carbon emissions.
“The new VED rates are structured to reflect the environmental impact of different types of vehicles, with higher taxes for those with higher emissions.

“Gone however are the lower rates for older EVs – with rates going up from £10 a year to £190.”
Electric cars will face new VED fees for the first time in 2025 as years of exemptions and discounts come to an end.
The policy was announced by the Conservatives back in 2022 with Labour sticking by the plan since taking over power.
The new changes are set to bring electric vehicle costs into line with traditional petrol and diesel fees.
However, some have suggested the move to tax electric vehicles could backfire with demand for the machines likely to take a hit.
Ben Nelmes, CEO of has previously called for fees to be axed ahead of the Spring.
He said: “Our recommendations would avoid the creation of an electric car tax penalty that is currently due to come into force in April 2025, and which may prevent more people from accessing the benefits of getting a used electric car.”
