A woman who made a stunning discovery in a skip has taken to to share her delight over her new possession.

Tina Foster, who is known on the social media platform as Hyper DIY’er, said her find was so good, her mum would be proud. “It’s only now that I realise just how much my mum taught me but more surprising..how much knowledge this scatty brain of mine has kept locked away!” she penned in a caption. “Over the moon! All thanks to my mumma.”

Tina’s video began with her carrying a into her home, which nearby builders had given her permission to take away. “I have a £3,000 table from a skip,” she declared. “Unbelievable.”

Explaining that the table was a teak coffee table designed by Peter Hivdt and Orla Molgaard-Nielsen, Tina continued: “I knew what this was as soon as I saw it. Fun fact – my mum and I used to wheel and deal in antiques and for most of my life she’s taught me everything I know – she’d be so proud.”

Tina believes the table was made sometime in the 1950s or 1960s. Jumping for joy in her clip, she added: “I’ve checked it all over and it is absolutely perfect. It needs restoring, but I will do that.”

She explained: “The legs are fine and the rattan shelf is intact. I’m under no illusion that I’m going to get three grand for this piece – it is beautiful, but to actually get three grand for it is very unlikely. I’ll do it up though and then it’ll definitely be worth a nice bit of money.”

Tina closed by sharing a screenshot of a website selling the item as brand new, listed with a price tag of £3,203.31. “Amazing find, you know what they say!” one user hailed in response. “Knowledge is power. Well done.”

A second lauded: “It’s pretty ridiculous what people throw away some have no idea of worth some simply just have too much money to care, good find.” Whilst a third praised: “Good job mum had great taste and taught you a good eye. She’d be very proud.”

Meanwhile, one of her followers revealed: “I have the extending dining table to match. It’s yours if you wanna drive to collect it.” To which Tina responded: “I don’t know if you’re another troll but if not that’s so kind, but I have a ton of stock to shift.”

Elsewhere, a sceptic added: “Great find, but it’s not worth £3k at all. Listed prices on Vinterior etc are extremely inflated prices. You need to search for sold listings apposed to asking prices. You’re probably looking at £400.” Tina hit back: “Thanks, but I know what I’m doing. If it was £4 or £400 I actually don’t care. I salvaged a lovely bit of furniture and that alone makes me happy.”

Meanwhile, another user closer to the table’s origin penned: “Maybe it’s because I’m Scandinavian and have been exposed to a lot of similar furniture, but I find that type of wood, shape, style dreadful. And 3k, dream on – but good luck.” Again, Tina asserted: “I absolutely love the Scandi style! The shapes of the chairs etc were beautiful! I think much nicer than the 50/60s UK style! As I said, I have no illusions I will get that but it was free.”
