Elvis Presley has been dead for nearly 50 years, but his influence on pop-culture and interest in his life is still going strong.

While two blockbuster movies have been made about the King of Rock and Roll in recent years, one of those films has been singled out for criticism by his ex wife, Priscilla Presley.

Priscilla, 79, has described Sofia Coppola’s 2023 flick as “awkward”, and also revealed one major plot point that was wrong about the Hound Dog singer.

The film, named Priscilla, was based on her own memoir from 1985, titled Elvis and Me.

Speaking during a panel discussion at MegaCon Orlando, Priscilla revealed the movie failed to tell the truth about how she ended her relationship with Elvis.

She said: “It is awkward to see yourself on film”

“Sofia Coppola called me — and she actually called me and I had never really met her — and said to me that she wanted to do a film about Elvis and I.”

Priscilla continued: “Just to warn me that she was going to do it, but not to worry. I mean, I wouldn’t anyway. I love her work.”

Despite being happy with the film overall, Priscilla said Coppola messed up the ending, stating: “The only thing was the ending. I wasn’t really happy about the ending. It didn’t end that way, and we ended — Elvis and I ended very lovingly.”

She continued: “We still we kept our relationship. We did. He would drop by my home unannounced, and I was going with someone by the way, and he would come unannounced.

“Thank God it was two o’clock in the morning, and I knew who it was, so I quickly tried to get to the door before he rang the doorbell, and of course he came in, we went in the kitchen, we talked for a couple of hours.”

The news about Priscilla’s true feelings on how her former lover was portrayed comes after the announcement that Elvis will return to the stage for a tour.
