Robert Albon, a sperm donor that claims to have fathered 180 children all around the world, has been named by a UK judge in a warning to women about using his services.
A couple has revealed their “horror story” after using Mr Albon, who applied to a court for parental responsibility, to be named on the birth certificate and changes to the child’s name. Jonathan Furness KC told Cardiff Family Court that Mr Albon, who calls himself Joe Donor, treats women and children as a “commodity”, reports the .
Mr Albon, who lives in the north-east of England but hails from the United States, says he’s got kids from Australia to China. If he returns to the US, he’ll be arrested for not paying child support, according to
The American advocates for donating his sperm via “natural insemination”, and “partial insemination” or “partial intercourse”, claiming it is more effective. Allan Pacey, a Sheffield University professor of andrology, told the outlet Albon’s methods are “a ruse to have sex”, something he denied.

It is very rare for a parent to be named in a dispute about children in a family court, however the judge felt it was in the public interest to reveal Mr Albon’s identity.
The court heard that Mr Albon, who is in his 50s, was a “stranger” to the child only meeting the parents for 10 minutes for a “one-off” photo.
As well as wanting parental responsibility, Mr Albon wanted the baby’s non-biological mother to be called “auntie”. Both mothers cite the ordeal as the central reason for the break-down in their relationship. The birth mother said she suffered from anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts as a result of it.

The judgement was made in 2023, but has only just been published. Mr Albon, the judge said, claimed he wanted to “protect the welfare” of the child when he was actually “wholly self-centred”.
Judge Furness concluded: “They chose a sperm donor who advertised that he would leave it up to the mother as to whether there should be any contact.
“There was evidence from his own social media material that Albon has indicated that to be the position.”
