How to use citric acid to clean a showerhead
To begin, dissolve one teaspoon of citric acid in a bowl of cold water. Then simply unscrew your showerhead and place it in the bowl with the cleaning solution. Make sure the showerhead is completely submerged.
Next, leave the showerhead to sit in the citric acid for at least 15 minutes to 45 minutes. This will give the acid time to break down the limescale buildup.
Once the time is up, rinse the showerhead under a tap of cold water to flush out any remaining citric acid. Screw the showerhead back on and it should now be completely clean.
If your showerhead does not detach, then pour the citric acid solution in an empty spray bottle, spray it generously, then leave it alone for at least 15 minutes then wipe it down.
Please keep in mind that citric acid is more potent than using vinegar or baking soda. Make sure to perform a spot test first on an inconspicuous area to make sure it will not damage your shower metal casing.
